Brienzer Turtle : Ferney-Voltaire, FR
I have a Tamron macro lens for my Nikon that is sadly underused. So, I got it out the other day and started shooting little things around the house. The little turtle, above, was made by woodcarvers in the Berner Oberland. I picked it up last year around this time, when my sister was visiting from Virginia.

The bird (middle) and the little wood gatherer (below) are both part of the Christmas pyramid we picked up at the Christkindlmarkt in Basel in December 2009. The turtle is about 1.25" (3.2 cm) high. The bird is 1.5" (3.8 cm) high and the little man stands at a whopping 2.0" in height (5.1 cm)!

I can't say I'm 100% pleased with the functionality of my macro lens. I like the results, as seen in these photos, but I don't like that I can't manually focus the lens and I had to use a tripod on some of these. That said, though, I paid a lot of money for that piece of glass, so I need to start using it more.
