Roman artifacts are a must-see at the museum in Avenches/Aventicum, CH
About an hour and a half north of Geneva on the A1 autoroute, there lies a picturesque little town called Avenches. In ancient times, it was known as Aventicum and was the Roman capital of Helvetia. We went and poked around a bit the last weekend my sister was here and enjoyed some beautiful artifacts and ruins, as well as a bit of the medieval city that grew up around this Roman town that was a hub on the road between Italy and England. We'll definitely be going back in the spring, when the weather is warmer and the flowers are in bloom. To enjoy a few more pictures of this Roman capital, visit my Picasa Web Album.

I love the turret rooms in your picasa display.
Great shot!
Mo: Thanks! Out of all the photos I took, this one stood out the most.
Cele: The turrets were kind of cool and "modern".
Maya: Thank you!
Love this photo. The cropping choice is spectacular!
NG: Thanks! I'm really proud of this photo, because I actually shot it just like that. No post-production necessary except on the saturation and contrast a tad.
