Springtime in Switzerland : Collex/Bossy, CH
Out for a walk in the Swiss countryside with the camera resulted in this. I have no clue what the yellow flowerly, weedy things are, but there are fields and fields of them. In the distance, just above the hill is 15,000+ foot Mont Blanc. (Click on the image to enlarge.)

I think they may be rape (raps in German) fields, used to make rapeseed oil.
A wonderful photo of potential and realization in a farm field!
I'm with Mary, I think it;s rape. When I was in England I thought it was mustard, it looks almost identical, smells a lot worse. Beautiful fields
Oh it's grown for oil and livestock feed.
When we visited Paris in April, we took a tour to Caen and saw similar vibrant yellow fields. The tour bus director said they were canola. Gorgeous at any rate.
Rapeseed (some are also known as Canola): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brassica_napus
Rapeseed leaves and stems are also edible, similar to those of the related bok choy or kale.
I KNEW it looked like some plants I eat!
