The Ballroom

Dancing at the Century Ballroom : Capitol Hill : Seattle, WA

Our last night in Seattle, we went to Capitol Hill and enjoyed an evening of ballroom dancing at The Century Ballroom. It's nice to know there are still places where the dancing is elegant and you can have a conversation without having to shout until you're hoarse.

Thanks to all of our friends who made our visit to Seattle so lovely, and especially to Chris and Rachel and The Baron for hosting us!

Dancing on the Rue Moufftard

Parisians gather on the Rue Moufftard on Sunday mornings to dance : Paris, FR

Friend Virginia recommended coming down to the Rue Moufftard to watch Parisians dance at the foot of the weekly farmer's market. Sadly, the weather conspired against us and the musicians and dancers were only out for a little while. Still, it was fun to watch.

Salsa!

Doing the mambo step : Barrio Latino : Plainpalais, Geneva, CH

So, in an ongoing effort to try new things, I'm taking dance classes and learning how to salsa. The class is a melange of folks from Africa, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. In other words, a veritable U.N. of salsa-dancing-wanna-be's! The guy who teaches the class, Raf, is of Swiss-Portugese descent. His native language is French (I think), but he teaches the class in English with a smattering of Spanish thrown in. It's been a lot of fun, so far. Quite often, I have two left feet, which is unfortunate for the leads. Bottom line, though: I'm having fun!
