Triticale

Triticale--a hybrid of wheat and rye : Bossy, CH

Yesterday's photo featured a harvested field of triticale--a hybrid of wheat and rye. This is what triticale looks like. The grain was developed in the 19th century in Scotland and Sweden and is resistant to diseases that ruin wheat and has the environmental hardiness of rye. Triticale is generally used as fodder, but has recently been used in health food cereals.

Great point of view on the top one. It completely changes the photo. I love the contrast in colors!
