A New Direction...

Moon dial on the grounds of Hochosterwitz Castle, Austria

Hi! Thanks for stopping by The F-Stops Here... . I've actually done a bit of traveling in the last four months and have photos to share from Puycelci and Albi, France; Turin, Lanzo Torinese, and Monto Bianco, Italy; Plitvitze, Croatia; Klagenfurt, Hochosterwitz, Seebenstein, Vienna, Melk, Mauthausen, Linz, and Hallstatt, Austria; Vaduz, Liechtenstein; and Gorges de la Diosaz, France.

I'm in the process of deconstructing and reconstructing this blog space, though, to highlight my skills as a writer, editor, project manager, and photographer. In the latter category, I'm hoping to attract business as a portrait/family, events, food, and travel photographer, in addition to my ability to write and edit technical and academic documents.

If you're interested in my work in any of these areas, please do not hesitate to contact me. I may be reached at: janetmkincaid@gmail.com.

In the meantime, stay tuned to this space for upcoming changes!

Plitvička Lakes

Just one of many waterfalls in this beautiful national park in northern Croatia : Plitvička, HZ

We're off on a road trip again. This time, we're going to Croatia to visit Plitvice Lakes. Maya was there in the late 1980s and always talks about how beautiful it is. And she was right! Just a couple of photos from one of the most beautiful natural wonders I've ever seen. To see more photos from this beauty, click here.

The colors were so amazing. Bright greens, deep turquoise blues. : Plitvička Lake, HZ

The water was so clear. Just one example here. : Plitvička, HZ

Po River

Rowing on the Po River : Turin, Italy

Just a couple of shots of the Po River on a Sunday afternoon. We walked all over the city that day. By the time we reached the river, we were pretty tired. We stopped for a short rest and I snapped a few photos.

Delayed

Delayed : GVA : Geneva, CH

This weekend's trip to Paris started off a little pear shaped. In an effort to save money, I bought tickets on Easy Jet* (Europe's equivalent of Southwest Airlines), because they were half as much as tickets on the train. Unfortunately, the flight to Paris Orly ended up being delayed by two hours. The reason, you ask? Seems air traffic controllers in France decided to go on strike for a few hours. Gotta love the French!

* Also often referred to as Sleazy Jet. Not because it's a pimpy, scummy airline, but because they're notorious for being delayed or canceling flights and because they nickel and dime you on every little thing. Of course, it keeps airfares low. I will say, Easy Jet has nice, new planes, which was a far sight better than the winged cattle cars I recently flew on domestic flights in the U.S.

From the Archives: Washington Dulles International Airport

Dulles International Airport : Fairfax/Loudon County, VA

I've posted this photo before, but as this was the departure point on Sunday evening, I thought I'd put it up again. It's one of my favorite pictures from my D.C. Confidential blog.

Admiralty Head Lighthouse

Admiralty Head Lighthouse : Coupeville, WA

I've featured this lighthouse before on my previous blog, D.C. Confidential. I was in Seattle and had to make a trip to Whidbey Island to retrieve some of my belongings. A trip to the north end of the island was required, which took us past Coupeville and the turn off for Admiralty Head Lighthouse at Fort Casey State Park.
